Hymn for
Pentecost
Spirit descend as tongues of fire,
Kindle your church again.
That we may burn with love for you,
Begin anew your reign.
Spirit arise within our heart,
Your breath to fill our soul.
That we may search for God within,
Embrace creation's goal.
Spirit empow'r our every part
And blow your wind o'er all.
That we may gust throughout
the earth,
Reflect redemption's call.
Spirit consume our troubled world
And shatter all our sin.
That we may bring to birth in faith
A world for you to win.
Spirit enrich our elders' dreams;
Let youth envision grace.
That we may both together know
And see you face to face.
Spirit accept our deepest prayer,
Awaken hope and love.
That we may name your
blessings now,
Echo your life above.
Spirit of God we know this day,
Your love and fire and pow'r.
With Father, Son, you live and reign
Today and every hour.
J.M.A. Wright+
Tune: Carlaws, Dundee
