Today's Lenten reflection: February 22

Ash Wednesday
"Ash Wednesday is the Church at its most intimate. It is the one day of the Church year when I want to lock the doors, cover the windows and turn down the lights. I don’t want anyone to see us – we are hanging out our dirty laundry for all to see . . . and I would rather we limit the exposure to family. It is the one time when we say, in rather dramatic fashion, “I am a sinner – a mortal sinner.'"

Working to get back in the church

Scaffolding is up along the west side of the nave inside Grace Church as work begins to repair the damage to the clerestory walls (the area at the upper left). Our main worship space has been closed since September after sensors showed structural problems. More photos of the work inside the church be found HERE.

An annual celebration of our church's Scottish heritage

Pipers with The Citadel Pipe Band lead the procession at Grace's Kirkin' o' the Tartan on Sunday, February 5. This service of Choral Mattins usually is held at Grace, but with our main worship space closed due to earthquake damage, this year's service was held at The Citadel's Summerall Chapel. More photos of the Kirkin' can be found HERE.
